Apple Brown Betty

This is probably one of the easiest deserts I've ever made but that didn't make it any less satisfying. It is DELICIOUS, especially with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream! Mmmm
Start by chopping 7 pieces of wheat sandwich bread into small cubes, place in bowl and set aside.
Next core, peel and slice 4 whole apples. I used gala but you can use whatever kind of apples you have.
Butter the inside of a baking dish (I know its a lot more calories and fat then using non stick spray  but in the end it's worth it and this is desert anyways... is it supposed to be good for you?!)
Take half a cup of brown sugar and sprinkle it on the bottom of the pan as even as you can.
Layer about 1/3 of your sliced apples on top of the sugar.
Next layer 1/3 of your cubed bread on top of the apples. Repeat this until you end with bread on top. (Sugar, apples, then bread)
Cut one stick of butter into sqaures and place all over the top of the bread cubes.
Sprinkle with maybe a tablespoon more of brown sugar and 3-4 tablespoons of water.
Place in oven covered with tin foil for 40 minutes. Take off the tin foil and place back in the oven for an additional 5 minutes or until the top is golden brown! ENJOY!
